At first glance, the Vaporesso XROS 2 isn’t that different from earlier models of MTL vapes from Vaporesso. The subtle design changes and upgrades add up to a big difference, though, and the vape makes an excellent choice as a starter kit.
Using the Vaporesso XROS 2 is simple since it charges quickly and uses that charge slowly. Plus, unlike other vapes that come with a pod installed, it doesn’t leak. Everything you need to get started comes in the kit aside from your juice of choice, and the vape is even compatible with the pod’s previous models.

Vaporesso XROS 2 Review
The overall design of the XROS 2 doesn’t deviate much from the winning formula Vaporesso put together in earlier models. Additionally, each vape has a modern color scheme, including space grey. The device is also convenient since it is a small box mod made to fit in your pocket or bag.
The Vaporesso XROS 2 has a single fire button with a silver ring near the middle of the vape. This button controls turning the vape on and off, as well as firing. You can either draw on it or press the button to fire the device, which is a change from the only draw activated XROS MINI.
The button itself is concave, going inwards towards the vape’s inner workings. This design helps you avoid accidental firing.
Four LEDs near the base’s body indicate how much charge the battery has. Vaporesso has them set up in a vertical line, called a ‘tiding LED system” by the manufacturer.
Each of the pods has a fill hole located under the mouthpiece. The coils aren’t replaceable, so you need a new pod when they go bad. The good news is that the coils last much longer than you expect, so you don’t need to throw them away too often.
For the most part, the vape gives off solid flavor with either of the coils that come with it. While super lightweight, the vape has some decent durability, thanks to its stainless steel shell.

Vaporesso XROS 2 Review
Build Quality
The Vaporesso XROS 2 is the same size as the original XROS but has a stainless steel shell for better corrosion and dust resistance. So, you shouldn’t have to worry about small drops, scratches, or moisture with this model.
Furthermore, the paint holds up well against everyday wear and tear. You shouldn’t expect it to chip or discolor from heavy vaping or going in and out of pockets and bags.
Each pod fits snugly into the XROS 2, and magnets hold them in place.
You shouldn’t notice any extra air sneaking in underneath the pod while vaping, either. However, the teardrop-shaped air hole doesn’t add much aside from aesthetics, but it’s solid metal and shouldn’t deform.
Using a self-closing membrane, you can open the pod’s fill hole when you insert your juice bottle and close it when you remove it. There are no leaks to speak of yet, and there haven’t been complaints of leaks either.
Airflow Control
The airflow of the XROS 2 is a bit different from the earlier designs. It lets you control how tight a draw you want from the device. You can find the knob for the slider on the device’s back near the top of the vape.
The airflow slider has just enough resistance that it won’t accidentally move when you’re using the vape. Also, you’ll find that the airflow holes are teardrop-shaped and feed directly under the pod.
When mostly closed, you get a much tighter pull from the vape. Even when fully open, the XROS 2 delivers a pretty tight draw, so if you’re used to a looser one, you should leave the airflow more open.
Pods
The XROS 2 comes with two XROS pods: a 1.2-ohm single coil pod and a 0.8-ohm mesh pod. The 1.2-ohm pods are the same pods that come with the XROS Mini, and all of the pods that the XROS 2 uses are compatible with any devices in the XROS family.
The mouthpiece on the pod serves as the cap for the pod’s fill port. While it’s not super easy to grip the mouthpiece to remove it, you can push it from the back to get it off easier.
Once removed, you will have the port for the pod exposed. Like many of the other devices from Vaporesso, it uses a top-fill port that features a self-closing membrane that opens when you put your e-liquid bottle into it. Thanks to the XROS 2 device’s SSS leak-resistant technology, there haven’t been any complaints of the pods leaking.
Finally, the pod itself has a completely clear tank and sits inside the Vaporesso XROS 2 in a place where you can easily see how much e-liquid you have in the tank without removing the pod.
Battery
Vaporesso XROS 2s have an internal 1,000 mAh battery, an upgrade from the original XROS that featured an 800 mAh battery. The device’s battery life is pretty great, lasting long enough to get through two pods worth of juice even if you’re chain vaping.
It takes around an hour to charge to full from a dead battery and uses a Type-C USB cable, which comes with the vape. Furthermore, the battery does have a pass-through charging capability, and you can use it while it is on the charger.
The XROS 2 has a battery indicator in the form of four LED lights that light up whenever you take a draw from the vape. These show the battery life and are pretty simple to understand.
- Four lights mean above 75% charge
- Three lights mean between 50% and 75% charge
- Two lights mean between 25% and 50% charge
- One light means below 25% battery life remaining
Whenever the Vaporesso XROS 2 only has one LED lit up, you should look for a charger. It doesn’t die quicker after it gets to the final 25% charge, but there is no way to tell the charge’s exact percentage.
Performance
The Vaporesso XROS 2 performs just as well, if not slightly better, than the original XROS and the XROS MINI. The upgraded battery is the most significant difference, as it has a much longer battery life than either of those two vapes.
Vaporesso first released the 1.2-ohm pod with the MINI. The single-wire build design delivers solid flavor, and with the airflow closed off, the Vaporesso XROS 2 has a tight MTL draw. The best option is to leave the airflow half-closed and at 11W since it creates a warm vapor.
The 0.8-ohm pod is for more of a loose MTL draw. Firing at 16W, it gives a more intense and hotter vapor than the 1.2-ohm pod. These benefits come at the cost of using a bit more battery power, so expect the device to last shorter periods with this coil.
The pod’s performance is much better than what you’d expect from most pods, lasting up to twenty tanks of juice without noticeable losses in flavor or vapor quality when you’re vaping.
Also, it doesn’t matter what kind of juice you use with the Vaporesso XROS 2. It typically performs the best with 40 or 50 VMG juices, but the XROS 2 can handle VG and PG types fairly well.
Hitting the Vaporesso XROS 2 is easy. You just need to either draw from the mouthpiece or press the fire button. However, the device heats and reacts faster when you use the button, so if you want a harsher hit, using the button is the go-to option.
Quick Rundown
Pros
- Small (great pocket pod vapes)
- Adjustable airflow MTL device
- Fantastic lifespan
- Pretty much leakproof
- Fast charging
- Simple battery life indicator
Cons
- Not a huge upgrade from the old XROS
- Non-replaceable coils
- Better flavor in the 0.8-ohm coil than the flavor in the 1.2-ohm coil
Usage Tips
- Turn the device on and off with five quick presses of the firing button
- To vape, either push the fire button or draw on the device
- If only 1 LED light shows when you draw, you should look for a charging cable
- Always try to clear the mouthpiece for any vapor condensation
- Check the official site for tips on caring for your vape
Conclusion
The overall build quality and performance of the Vaporesso XROS 2 makes it an excellent MTL kit that might lean a little more towards beginners. Easy-to-change pods, long-lasting coils, tiny size, and great battery capacity all make the XROS 2 a solid kit for anyone looking to get into vaping.
It can also make an excellent choice for users who want to start vaping instead of smoking cigarettes. The performance of the coils creates a hotter and harsher vapor than other pods, making it more similar to smoking cigarettes.
For users who already have an XROS, it might not be worth getting the newer version, as the performance difference is negligible. That said, the XROS 2 is an exceptional refillable pod vape and outclasses most other options in its niche.
