What Happens if You Drink Vape Juice?

Many experienced vapors test e-liquid flavors by tasting a droplet of the vape juice. Tasting vape juice in such a low volume isn’t harmful; unpleasant maybe, but certainly not dangerous.

For a vape juice to be detrimental to one’s health, one would have to gulp down a highly-concentrated nicotine vape juice in a large amount, i.e. drink it.

If, for whatever reasons, you’re curious about downing a bottle of vape juice, let me wreck your train of thought right now. Doing so isn’t a good idea and will never be one, regardless of the circumstances.

Why so? Keep reading.

What You’d be Ingesting if You Drink Vape Juice?

Vape juices are typically made up of four key ingredients: vegetable glycerin (VG), propylene glycol (PG), flavoring, and nicotine. None of these e-juice ingredients should be consumed directly through the mouth in large amounts.

Vegetable glycerin, propylene glycol, and flavoring concentrates are generally passed off as safe for consumption by the FDA and the FEMA. However, these responsible bodies don’t take into account the stupidity of people attempting to drink a bottle of vape juice; they only regard them as safe for ingestion in low amounts through vaping, not drinking.

Now, let’s talk about the most harmful ingredient in vape juice—nicotine. Even children are well-aware of the harmful effects of nicotine.

Nicotine is a poisonous alkaloid that is safe to be consumed only in small doses. It is highly addictive and consists of nitrogen extracted from many types of plants of the nightshade family, specifically tobacco plants.

Now, according to current reports, a concentrated level of nicotine between 500mg to 1000mg is enough to kill a fully grown adult. To put things into perspective, a 30ml bottle with 36mg nicotine strength would contain a total of 1080mg of nicotine!

Mind you—there are vape juices with 36mg nicotine strength sold on the market.

For further context, think of smoking a few cigarettes in quick succession. You will feel a little light-headed and nauseous, right?

Now, understand that situation is only similar to you drinking 1mg to 4mg of nicotine. Can’t imagine what it’d feel like to consume 1080mg of nicotine anymore, can you?

What Happens if You Drink Vape Juice?

First and foremost, you’ll hate the taste of vape juice in your mouth. Right off the bat, you’ll realize that as tasty as the vape juices are when you inhale them through vaping devices, they are equally as unpleasant when tasted with the tongue.

It is a known scientific fact that nicotine metabolizes swiftly. Hence, if you drink a large dose of nicotine, your body will feel its full effects in a short time.

Immediate Effects

You’ll suffer from nicotine poisoning and within the first 15 minutes to an hour, you’ll start sweating bullets and feel nauseous, queasy, and light-headed. You’ll also have visual impairment, chest pain, dry throat, faster heartbeat, higher blood pressure, and quick, heavy breathing.

If you don’t get immediate medical treatment after consuming a fatal dose, you may even die.

The vegetable glycerin (VG) in the e-juice will have a laxative effect on your body too. You’ll need to visit the bogs not only to puke but to also release loose motions. At this point, be ready to call the toilet your new home as you’d probably have to spend the entire day there.

Unfortunately, nicotine poisoning has late-phase symptoms as well, usually experienced by the victim 30 minutes to four hours after being poisoned. Some of the symptoms include shallow breathing, slower heartbeat, and lower blood pressure.

You will also feel weak and lethargic, have slow reflexes, and be unable to control your muscles. In more extreme cases, you may even suffer from a seizure.

Long-Term Effects

Nicotine poisoning can potentially cause plenty of long-term side effects too.

It is usually the hardest on your heart. When you suffer from nicotine poisoning, the rhythm of your heart accelerates to such a rapid pace that you may even have a heart attack.

Assuming that you survive the first few days of the ordeal, your heart and arteries will never be the same because of the stress enforced by the poison. So, you may have a lifelong battle keeping your heart and arteries alive and safe.

Wrap Up

Need to feed your curiosity? Want to go against my advice?

Lost a bet and need to keep your word of drinking vape juice? Well, let me be crystal clear right now—unless you need to save a loved one from dying, downing a bottle of vape juice is just not worth it.

Simply put, vape juice is meant to be vaped, not drunk!

Drinking vape juices will make your worst nightmares a reality and you’ll suffer for days on end. You’ll be hugging the toilet instead of your missus, lying wide awake in the middle of the night, and having terrible headaches as you go through this terrible ordeal I wouldn’t even wish on my worst enemy.

Get some counsel and get rid of this foolish idea. Use your vape juice to smoke clouds like a regular person.

More importantly, remember to keep vape juices away from the reach of young children. Fatal cases of young ones getting hold of their parents’ e-juices and suffering heartbreaking consequences have been reported.
